This guide explains how to add variable information to tickets using Ticket Generator, including best practices and steps for event registration.
A. About Variable Information
Variable information refers to placeholder data that event organizers can add to the ticket design by importing via different file formats (CSV/XLSXl). These data can be customized and unique to each ticket, such as the guest's name, seat number, or ticket price. This contrasts with fixed information, which remains the same on all tickets (e.g., event name, date, and location).
B. How to Add Variable Information in Ticket Design
- Log in to the Ticket Generator Account
- Navigate to Manage Events and Create an event
- Click on the Event name and navigate to Tickets Design
- Click on Edit Design and choose the ticket design
- Either upload a custom ticket design or use the standard template
- Add Variable Information Placeholders from the quick action section
- Use the ‘+’ button to add up to 5 header-value sets as placeholders in the ticket design
- Position placeholders appropriately within the ticket design (if your own design is uploaded)
- Customize the headers (e.g., 'Name', 'Seat') and ensure the placeholder fits well within the design
C. How to Map Variable Information via Event Registration
- Navigate to the Event Page section
- Click on Setup Event Page
- Design the event page and click on Continue
- Navigate to Variable Information Mapping option on the next page
- Map values entered by guests to the variable information fields in the ticket design
- If using Custom Text, specify a static text that will appear on all tickets
- Select the approval system and click on Generate Link
D. Best Practices for Variable Information
- Placeholder Management: Ensure placeholders do not overlap and are clearly visible
-
Character Limits: Adhere to character limits for the headers and values to maintain readability
-
If the Upload Own Design feature is used, add as many characters as the placeholder fits in the ticket design. For the Default Design, there is a character limit for the header/value text. The number of characters depends on the number of columns added:
-
1 Column: 1-60 characters
-
2 Columns: 1-30 characters
-
3 Columns: 1-20 characters
-
4 Columns: 1-15 characters
-
5 Columns: 1-10 characters
-
-
- Design Considerations: Maintain contrast between the text and the background for readability
- Data Preparation: Use CSV or MS Excel files for bulk data uploads. Ensure headers in the file match the placeholders
- Checking Preview: Always check the ticket preview before proceeding to generate the tickets
