This article explains how to request, add, and use a venue layout in Ticket Generator so guests can select seats while booking tickets.
Introduction
‘Venue Layout’ helps event organizers offer seat-based ticket booking. Using this feature, organizers can request a custom venue with seating arrangements, attach it to an event, and allow guests to choose their preferred seats during ticket purchase.
This is useful for events such as concerts, theaters, conferences, and stadium-based events where assigned seating is required.
A. Request a venue layout
Before requesting a venue layout, an event must be created in Ticket Generator.
To request a a new venue:
- Go to Settings > Venue Layout Tab
- Click on Request Venue Design
- You will get a modal with the instructions and details of how to submit your venue request. Please note that it requires USD 100 or 200 ticket credits to add a new venue. Also each ticket generated for an event with venue layout costs 2 ticket credits.
- Click on Continue, submit your venue requirements, including:
- Venue Name
- Venue Address (will be visible to the guests)
- Floor plans which has the seating structure and sections clearly mentioned
- Total attendance capacity
- Any specific layout instructions
After submission, the Ticket Generator team will create a venue layout based on the provided requirements.
B. Review and approve the venue draft
Once the venue layout is ready:
- The Ticket Generator team will receive a confirmation email that your venue is ready for review.
- Go to Settings > Venue Layout tab to review and approve the venue
- Once approved, the venue layout will be added to your account and made available for use in events.
C. Add venue layout to an active event
After approval, the venue layout can be linked while creating a new event
Follow these steps:
- Go to Manage Events > Create New Event
- Check the ‘Select a saved venue layout‘ below the Venue Name field
- Select your created venue from the dropdown list.
- In the 2nd step, the ticket categories and their names would automatically be fetched from the venue details.
- Fill in other details and create your event
D. Generate tickets with seat selection
Tickets can be generated in two ways:
- From the Event Page: When you create the Event Registration page for your event, the venue is automatically attached and displayed to your guests. Your guests can select the seats while booking tickets for your event.
- From Single Ticket generation: When generating and sending tickets, you can select seats and send tickets directly to your guests.
For paid events:
- Guests can view the venue layout on the event page
- Guests select the ticket type and preferred seat
- After payment, the selected seat is automatically blocked for that guest
- The ticket is generated with assigned seat details
This ensures no duplicate seat bookings and provides a smooth booking experience for attendees.
