This article explains how to add and set up a custom domain in Ticket Generator to replace default event page URLs with customized brand URLs.
Introduction
Adding a custom domain in Ticket Generator allows event pages to be displayed under a brand's subdomain for live and test URLs. This enhances brand visibility and creates a consistent experience for attendees. A custom domain can also be set as the default URL for all event pages. Follow the steps below to configure a custom domain.
A. Access the Custom Domains Section
- Log in to the Ticket Generator account
- Navigate to Settings > Custom Domains in the left-hand menu
- In the Custom Domains tab, click Add Custom Domain
B. Enter the Custom Domain
- In the popup, enter the desired subdomain in the format subdomain.domain.com (e.g., events.mydomain.com)
- Ensure that it is a subdomain, not the main domain (e.g., mydomain.com is not allowed)
- Click Continue to proceed
C. Update DNS Records
Once the custom domain is added, Ticket Generator provides the DNS records needed for configuration:
- Log in to the DNS provider (e.g., Cloudflare, GoDaddy)
- Add the following DNS records:
-
CNAME Record:
- Type: CNAME
- Name: The subdomain entered earlier (e.g., events.mydomain.com)
- Target: custom-event-page.ticket-generator.com
-
TXT Record:
- Type: TXT
- Name: @
- Target: The unique verification value provided (e.g., tg-verification=xyz123)
-
CNAME Record:
- Save the DNS changes. DNS updates may take up to 48 hours to propagate
D. Verify the Domain
- Go back to the Custom Domains tab in Ticket Generator
- Click Verify to confirm the domain setup
- If the domain is successfully verified, it will be added to the account (Please note that sometimes it can take up to 24 hours before the system can recognize the changes on the sub-domain)
E. Make the Domain Default
- After verification, the domain will appear in the list of custom domains
- To set the domain as default, enable the Set Default toggle
- When set as default, all event pages—both live and test—will automatically use the custom domain
F. Live and Test URLs
Once configured, the custom domain will be reflected in both live and test URLs for event pages. Example:
- Live URL: https://events.mydomain.com/event-name
- Test URL: https://events.mydomain.com/test-event-name
This ensures consistency across environments and enhances attendee trust.
G. Troubleshooting
- Ensure the DNS records are accurate.
- If verification fails, confirm with the DNS provider that the changes have been propagated.
- For additional help, consult the network administrator or support team.
